II.      Organizational Context
 
Under the overall supervisionof the UNOCHA Head of Sub-Office and direct supervision by the Administrative and Finance Officer, the Driver shall provide reliable and safe driving services to UNOCHA Head of Office, Humanitarian Affairs Officers and other UNRCO and UN officials and visitors ensuring highest standards of discretion and integrity, sense of responsibility, excellent knowledge of protocol and security issues. The Driver also demonstrates a client-oriented approach, courtesy, tact and ability to work with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.
 
 Upon request of the supervisor, the Driver can be also required to provide driving services to the operations and programme staff from OCHA Manila and OCHA related missions.
 
III.    Responsibilities
 
Within limits of delegated authority and depending on location, a Driver at this level may be responsible for the following duties:
·         Drives vehicles safely for the transport of authorized personnel and, in the case of Peacekeeping and/or disaster missions, for the transport of general cargo goods and/or specialized hazardous goods vehicles;
·         Collects and delivers of mail, documents, and other items;
·         Meets official personnel at the airport and facilitate immigration and customs formalities as required;
·         Ensures cost savings through proper use of vehicle through accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logs of official trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, oil changes, greasing, etc. and provision of inputs to preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports;
·         Takes care of the day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicles, check oil and/or timely changes of oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, car washing, etc.; performs minor repairs and arrange for other repairs and ensures that the vehicle is kept clean;
·         Ensures that all immediate actions required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accidents.
·         Performs other duties as assigned.
 
Work implies interaction with the following: Staff in immediate office; high level UN officials, UN Common System offices, missions, other international organizations, and NGOs, etc.
 
Results Expected: Ensures driving assignments are carried out safely and on time.

V.      Qualifications

 

Education
·         High School diploma required. Driver’s training with a  valid driver’s license.
Experience
·         Minimum three (3) years of progressively responsible experience as a Driver. Experience of at least one (1) year in the UN or an international humanitarian organization would be an advantage.
·         Safe driving record, knowledge in driving rules and regulations, experience in driving a variety of makes and models of vehicles, including vans and other kinds of motorized vehicles.
·         Knowledge in mechanics and vehicle repair services would be an added advantage.
Language Requirements
·         Fluency in written/oral English
·         Fluency in Local languages would be an advantage
